Do your soul a favor and dig Haynes & Trucks on a stripped down version of “These Changes”—a cut from Warren’s latest solo record.1
A co-write with Derek Trucks, it’s a really heartfelt song musically and lyrically.
Warren said, “I love this song, which is about looking back and forward at the same time and navigating your way through an ever-changing life.”2
Derek’s opening riffs have a distinct I Am the Moon flavor.3
And just like the full band cut on Million Voices Whisper, this version features a wonderful Derek & Warren musical conversation on the outro.4
Haynes:
“The instrumental section at the end, where we are trading guitar riffs and playing off of each other, was not in the original arrangement as we wrote it.
It just came about organically once we started recording the song.
It was a great opportunity for the two of us to rekindle our chemistry that we've had for a long time.”5
