“There’s no such thing as dying…”

The view from Section 119, Row 12 April 15, 2025

With those words, the Rev. Brother Warren Haynes1 closed out “Whipping Post,” and an ABBsolutely amazing two nights of music at Madison Square Garden, April 15-16, 2025.

Haynes quoted a line Gregg used regularly in 1972 and 1973 in honor of his fallen brothers, Duane and Berry Oakley.

That Warren did the same five years earlier at MSG (the last big event of the Beforetimes) made it all the more poignant.

I’ll write more on the shows later.

Suffice it to say, they were incredible and a reminder of what an outstanding band Duane and his mates founded 55 years ago.

In the meantime, here’s some views from the Crossroads of southern music, history, and culture…NYC style.

This part’s reserved for those keeping the show on the road. Become a paid subscriber.
