Fabulous album. Had a neighbor, budding guitarist, who’d stand in his driveway, this blaring off record player, playing along

not sure I’d enjoy that as a neighbor but I appreciate the spirit for sure.

I have to write what is obvious to most, the original release is quite easily the greatest live recording ever. I was not lucky enough to be there, but I have almost the equivalent and I can listen to it to my heart's content.

That was 100% the intent of At Fillmore East...that if you couldn't be there, here was the next best thing. And it worked, the album was a massive success, something we're still talking about 54 years after it was released.

Great article. As a matter of fact I know the guy who yelled “play all night”. He’s the cousin of a close friend I know for 60 years. He was also at that show and there was a bomb scare so they had to evacuate the theatre and by the time the concert was over it was dawn outside as they exited. If you’re really interested in hearing a great story about the best live album ever made from someone who was there, reach out.

Peace

It's the rock album by which all others are judged....the best of the best.

I was 12 when I heard this album and it changed my life. Was into the pop of the day so very different and mind expanding for me. Gritty real incredible music. Thanks for the background- I will look into your book about it.

At Fillmore East has been blowing minds for nearly 55 years now. An outstanding record.
