Thanks for sharing the Frogwings show. I had never heard them with McCain before (and always liked his sound). The songs w/ vocals are definitely a much different vibe, and you can only take so much lead harmonica solo...Croakin' at Toads was a pivotal album for me inspite of Popper. It was sort of my gaitway to the contemporary Allman Brothers of that time.
Glad to share it. I much (much) prefer Edwin McCain on vocals. It's a better fit. As for Popper, 1 million (or so) harmonica notes was apparently my limit. I hit that in about 1997. I always dug his singing and lyrics in Blues Traveler, but his schtick as Frogwings frontman didn't translate well at all for me.
Seeing Frogwings in May 1997 (a year before this) was life-changing. Derek Trucks Band opened. I'd seen Derek twice before (1993 and 1994/5), but this was the first time with dTb. BLEW. ME. AWAY.
Then Frogwings came out and played "Kickin' Bach"...that was IT for me. Terrific band. Groundbreaking in a lot of ways. (Assuming you've seen this post https://www.longlivetheabb.com/p/the-freight-train.)
I have a memory of reading a magazine interview of Butch Trucks that centered on his launch of the Flying Frog label (I've looked and looked and cannot find it on the internet). Then went out and bought all of the debut offerings- Frogwings, Schleigho, Deep Banana Blackout albums. This was in the time that "Jam Band" had become established in itself a genre for better or worse, and a tremendous void was created by Phish taking a break. I was so happy to find my own niche in Flying Frog artists and not settling on bands that were being pushed out in front (i.e. String Cheese Incident).
I understand,I have to be careful or I find them shifting my focus from what I have to what I don't have. Resulting in a state of ungratefulness instead of being grateful for what I do have. For me they can be a hindrance to happiness.
I've also found that when behavior fails to meet expectations it opens wide the door to harboring offense towards that person.✌️☮️🍄🎵
Where the sun shines damn near every day, I love that Muddy Waters cut. We saw Muddy Waters and The Brothers play outside @ Vanderbuilt in the late 70's,awesome show

So true,expectations steal joy,
I try not to have any. They are a. hindrance to happiness and rob us of gratefulness.
It's hard to avoid them, but it definitely makes my life a bit less chaotic.
