Hearing about Dylan not only covering "Ramblin' Man" but reciting Skynyrd's "Simple Man" in the Carter doc was quite an incredible moment for this Dylan-obsessed southern man.

Dylan’s love for “Ramblin’ Man” made this ol’ boy’s heart explode with pride for my beloved Allman Brothers Band 🍄

I loved unpacking their connections, which are wider than appear on the surface.

ps: Simple Man was the song that played in the car as I drove to my wedding. Lessons for life.

Good stuff!!! Enjoyed reading about these connections.

I’ve been hoping Dylan would do a proper take on “Goin’ Down the Road Feelin’ Bad” for a few decades now.

He and The Band fooled around with the song in 1967 (it’s the Complete Basement Tapes), but it’s not the best take on the song, as they were just screwing around.

Dylan quotes the song’s title in his song “Trying To Get to Heaven”, which is on his 1997 album Time Out of Mind, and a song he’s played live many times. Sadly, that’s the closest he’s come to performing GDTRFB since 1967.
